Sips n Strokes Girls Night Out!

For an early birthday celebration (10 more days!!), my friend Dana, her friend Deanna and I went to Sips n Strokes! It's a place where you go, take your adult beverage of choice, and they teach you to paint a painting. For $35, they supply all of your paint, brushes, and your canvas. It's a blast, and addicting from the first brush stroke!

The painting we did tonight is called "Retro Paisleys". I'd like to rename it "Retro Pain in my Ass". It turned out great in the end, but it was a fight to get there. It would have been easier if we had painted the background (the light blue, dark blue, and tan) in FIRST, but instead, the shapes were painted in first and the background was painted in second. This meant a lot of going back and redefining the edges of all of my shapes... sometimes twice. Also there was an issue with the flower in the corner. I hated the way the instructor was telling us to do it. It was UGLY. So I painted and painted and painted until I liked it. I swear I repainted this dang thing at least 4 times.

But, all that matters is that I ended up with a beautiful painting that I'm quite proud of! I give you "Retro Paisleys/Pain in my Ass"

I hope you all have a great weekend!

  1. The painting turned out great! I really like it! I am completely hopeless when it comes to painting/drawing anything :D It sounds like you had a lovely time.

We are celebrating my hubby's birthday this weekend (it actually is on Sunday). Friday night was lots of fun! Tonight we are going out to eat with friends and tomorrow Hans' family is coming.

  3. I love that painting. You need to make an album on your Facebook or something and put them all together. I know you have more.

I wish we had a Sips and Strokes. It sounds super fun!
