Essence A Lovely Secret & Passion For Fashion tape manicure

Hey lovelies! Sorry it took so long for me to come back... The Parker house got sick! My husband got it first, then Zoey, and then me! And let me tell you, being sick while breastfeeding sucks... You can't take any sinus meds without it affecting milk production! Horrible! Luckily, I'm starting to feel better now. Just in time, too... On Friday, Zoey will be going on her first family vacation to Europe! We will be visiting my husband's family in England, and we will also be taking a trip to Germany and France. We can't wait! It's been almost 2 years since we've taken a trip over there, so it's long overdue!

Here's a manicure that I did right after Christmas... It took a lot of time, but I think it turned out really pretty!

I started out with 2 coats of Essence A Lovely Secret... A really pretty lavender with pink/purple duochrome microglitter. It's such a pretty, girly color!

Then, after a good coat of Poshe to get it nice and dry, I made a ray design with some nail striping tape, and applied a coat of Essence Passion for Fashion. This was my first time using striping tape, and I really liked it! Much easier than cutting little tiny pieces of tape!

I love the way this turned out! :)

Now, as requested by a sweet reader Stacy on my Facebook page, here is some Zoey spam!

Zoey celebrated her very first Christmas:

And just all around being silly:

But she really likes ALL food!

Babywearing is one of her favorite things... Wrapped up with Mommy is her favorite place to be!

Oh, and we bought some new bows!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and I hope 2013 is a great year! <3

Halloween Glow In The Dark Funky French!

Hey guys! I have finally gotten around to doing a pretty Halloween mani! Check it out!

For this manicure, I started out with Finger Paints Comet's Collar, from the new Merry & Bright collection. Then, I added 2 coats of OPI Zom-body To Love, the fun glow in the dark green. I used scotch tape and Sally Hansen Black Out to add funky french tips, and then I stamped the Jack-o-lantern from my BM-222 plate. This is the first time I've actually pulled off tips with scotch tape... I love the way this turned out! And of course, here is the obligatory glow-y picture!

Super fun! I love Halloween... I also have a treat picture for you... here's my Halloween costume! I'm the Doctor, from Dr. Who!

Come  along, Pond!
Where are my Whovians at?!

What are you going to be for Halloween? :D

Orly Fresh + Orly Flirty Scotch Tape Rays!

I was lucky enough to find a full display of the Orly Happy Go Lucky collection at the Sally's by my work earlier this week, and I couldn't wait to play with them!

For my fun mani, I decided to use Fresh and Flirty! Fresh, seen on my accent finger, is a vibrant lime green creme... So fun! It reminds me of a green screen! It took 2 coats to achieve opacity. Flirty is a bright bubblegum pink with a soft silver shimmer. Again, 2 coats.... Orly is great with their formula! I've never used an Orly I didn't love!

To finish off this mani, I used teensy strips of scotch tape to section off "rays".... Here's the finished product!

I love the way it turned out! I got lots of compliments... So fun! I love both of these colors so much! I can't wait to try the 2 other colors in the collection as well!

Harry Potter Nails! (Zoya Goldie + OPI From A to Z-urich)

Is it really almost over? I can't believe that we've made it to the end.... the very last Harry Potter movie. When the last book came out, it was hard, but I convinced myself that it was ok! There are still the movies! But now, they're over too?!

So, I'm going out with a bang. Midnight premiere, dressed up as always.... But this year a few good friends and I are high-tailing it to Orlando after the movie is over to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter! I can't WAIT!! I have waited SO long to be able to go, and what better time than now?!

So, of course, to match my Gryffindor outfit, I had to do some Gryffindor nails! I did a scotch tape mani with Zoya Goldie and OPI From A to Z-urich.

:D

Here is Goldie by herself.

Here's to you, Harry. I've spent the last 11 years of my life with you... And I stuck with you, until the very end.

"All was well."

Follower's Pick Friday! FingerPaints Scotch Tape Rays!

Late again..... Hopefully this isn't becoming a habit!! I'm sorry.... I will be better next week, I promise!!

This week's poll was a tie between FingerPaints Amethyst Atelier and FingerPaints Artistic Azure.... So of course, I used both!

Amethyst Atelier on index, middle, and pinky, and Artistic Azure on thumb (not pictured) and ring accents. This is one coat of each!! I just love one-coaters. It seems that a lot of the FingerPaints cremes and shimmers are one coaters... I keep meaning to try stamping with them! Amethyst Atelier is a dark purple creme, reminiscent of Zoya Mira, but a bit darker. Artistic Azure is a cerulean blue shimmer... much like Zoya Tallulah.... but again, a bit darker.  I picked both of these up on clearance a few weeks ago at Sally's.

Then, I taped off my ring finger and thumb with teensy pieces of tape, and did a coat of Amethyst Atelier, to make little rays of color!

Love it! Scotch tape makes all things possible. :)

See you again tomorrow! <3

Happy 4th of July! Zoya Sarah + Zoya Tallulah Scotch Tape Mani

Happy 4th! I want to show you my Independence Day mani.... I'm so proud of it!

For this mani, I started off with 1 coat of Zoya Tallulah.

Yes, that's right... I said ONE coat! This is the first time I have used Tallulah myself, but you may remember her from Traci's Guest Post while I was gone. Tallulah is a described as a "medium electric cobalt blue with fine bright aqua shimmer". LOVE!!

Then, I taped off my nails diagonally and added one coat of Zoya Sarah.

Sarah was one of my very first Zoya's.... I still love her! She doesn't get nearly enough attention from me. <3

Then, I taped off again, and used OPI DS Radiance to stamp with Bundle Monster BM-210 over Sarah. After another coat of Seche Vite, I taped again and added sparkle over Tallulah with OPI Servin' Up Sparkle.

I love the way it turned out! I love how it looks like the little flags are blowing in the wind. :)

Everyone have a safe and Happy 4th!

What do you have on your nails today? What are your plans for this 4th?

Catrice Dirty Berry + Essence Mystic Mermaid + Scotch Tape Rays

Hey guys! Yesterday after my Crackle fail (documented on the Rainbows and Sparkles Blog Facebook page), I promptly removed Mimi. :( Loved Mimi, hated the Crackle. So, I decided to play with my new Catrice and Essence polishes sent to me by the wonderful Kati! (You still need a blog. Or at least a facebook.)

First, I used Catrice Dirty Berry.

I am loving the formula on these Catrice polishes... I just wish I could get them more easily in the US! I love the brush; it's so easy to manage! This is 2 coats. Dirty Berry is a dusty grey-ple, and it's got a beautiful silver shimmer! Or so I thought... until I went outside:

I would definitely blow these up so you can see the subtle holo glitter! WOAH! I actually verbally "Ooooooh"'d when I looked at them outside... This is gorgeous! The first thing I did was message Kati with an "OMG you didn't tell me this was a holo!!" It's comparable to the scattered holo in the Tronica's.

Of course, I couldn't leave it alone, so I layered it with another beauty that Kati sent me... Essence Mystic Mermaid. It's from their Special Effect Topper collection... along with the "Hello Holo" glitter I used last week. I accented the ring finger with Scotch Tape in a "ray" pattern.

The left hand rays look a bit cleaner than this, but I am still boycotting pictures until my nails decide they want to stop breaking. Then, because we had the elusive sunshine, I took to the porch!

Mermaid is right! This is a beautiful silver foil with just enough translucency to  show the color underneath. It's also got a bit of a holo property, and duo-chrome, as it shows silver, blue, and a bit of green. I am in LOVE with this topper! I told Kati that I will be layering this over EVERYTHING! It's beautiful! The best part? A top coat doesn't kill the look at all. ;)

Hope you guys love this as much as I do!

Scotch Tape Rainbow Tutorial

Hey guys! A lot of you have asked how I did my Tronica scotch tape mani... so I made a tutorial for you! Enjoy!

You will need:
-The polishes you will use for your manicure. You can use as many as you want... I chose to use 4. (The colors I am using are: Electro Candy, What A Shock!, Pure Energy, and Ultra Violet, all from Color Club's Electro Candy Collection.
-Seche Vite. This is the star of the show, ladies... Seriously, this stuff dries SO fast! You can paint it over wet polish, and it makes everything dry within 5 minutes or so.
-Scotch Tape. Any kind will work, but I find the cheaper, the better. You don't want it TOO sticky.

Here we go!

Step 1: Apply 1-2 coats of your first color, and apply 1 coat of Seche Vite. Let dry.

Step 2: Place Scotch tape over the top 1/4 of your nail (or 1/5 or 1/6, depending on how many colors you are using). Protip: Stick the tape to your hand and pull it off a few times to make the stickiness go away.

Step 3: Paint on a coat of your next color.

Step 4: Pull the tape off before the paint dries. (Otherwise, the tape will pull at your edge.) Voila! Paint on another coat of Seche Vite, and let dry.

Step 5: After your Seche Vite dries, tape a bit farther down, covering the first color and a strip of the second color. (Notice I used the same piece of tape.)

Step 6: Paint on your next color.

Step 7: Pull off the tape, and paint another coat of Seche Vite. Let dry.

Step 8: Can you guess what comes next?

Step 9: What about now?

Step 10: Remove your tape, and TADA!! Paint on another coat of Seche Vite, and you're done!

You have now completed your 10 step program. Please contact your sponsor for any questions or assistance. :)

Oh, and just for fun, I added some Black Shatter!

Oh yeah! <3
